Changes ahead!

I’ve just sent an update round our mailing list to say that at the end of this year, I’ll cease to be Convener of the Archdiocesan Music Advisory Group, aka Forth in Praise. A couple of major health problems over the last two or three years have made me think I should step down before I fall down! However, I’ve agreed to carry on as webmaster of the Forth in Praise website, and intend that this blog shall continue.

The Music Advisory Group has been going for nearly 11 years now, and much if not all of its success has been due to the work put in by Forth in Praise’s dedicated team of volunteers. No job was too boring for them, whether it was making tea, ticking off names or putting papers in envelopes. Or too specialised – our music leader has come up with some wonderful arrangements, while our IT expert created the website and this blog. The extra demands made on them in the run-up to the Pope’s visit in 2010 were just taken in their stride, as was the new liturgy in 2011.

So a big thank-you to all the Forth in Praise team, past and present and (I hope) future.

However, I’m not going yet. There’s still the Singing Day on 31 August – the last one I’ll organise – and no doubt other things will turn up between now and Christmas. After that, though, the feet will definitely go up.

But it will be nice to maintain the website. It’ll be a way of keeping in touch.
