Happy New Year!

evelyn @ 9:27 pm

We had the unusual experience of a double New Year this time.  At 1 pm in the afternoon of 31 December we watched the fireworks over Melbourne through the medium of our son’s laptop, which he had placed on the balcony of his seventeenth-floor flat in the city.  At 12 midnight our own laptop was set in front of the television, and our son and his girlfriend viewed the fireworks in Edinburgh.  Then we watched son and girlfriend dancing in Melbourne to the Edinburgh strains of Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham issuing from their laptop.  Amazing!

All the best for 2013 to all blog readers!

  3. It’s not quite the same as seeing them in person, but it’s the next best thing – modern technology (when it works…) is wonderful…
