The Playing the Organ page has been updated. There are links to some local society websites, and to the website of the Scottish Federation of Organists, where advice can be found on salaries and fees, organ purchase and maintenance, and organist training.

There is also new material of special interest to organist beginners and to pianists thinking of taking the plunge:

• information about the training days run by the Scottish Churches Organist Training Scheme (SCOTS). The first one this year is on 29 January.

• details of the new Organists in Training initiative being run by Stirling and District Organists’ Society in conjunction with Forth in Praise (us!). First training session will be on 26 March in Linlithgow.

Also, advance notice of the Forth in Praise Singing Day: Saturday 9 April in Linlithgow. It will focus on the new Mass text, and will be led by Misia Paul.
